UProtectNZ Insurance Services: active in our community

Since arriving to live in Millwater in 2015, Theo and Cristina Simeonidis of UProtectNZ Insurance Services have carved out a reputation as the financial advisers in Silverdale, Orewa and the Hibiscus Coast that individuals and businesses can rely on to protect the things that matter most. With an accumulated 20 years’ experience, they are able to help you navigate the complex insurance “jungle” by providing exceptional service and advice to their clients.

Loving life on the Hibiscus Coast

While UProtectNZ has been a great vehicle through which to serve our community, Theo and Cristina have also been actively involved in many other community initiatives. As an active member of the Rotary Club of Orewa-Millwater, Theo is well-known as the organiser and driving force behind the annual Greek Extravaganza fundraiser for Harbour Hospice (Hibiscus) which since 2017 has raised over $66,000 for our local Hospice. Sadly, this year’s special 5th anniversary event was cancelled due to COVID, but Theo has fashioned a “Plan B” and aims to still raise at least $10,000 for Hospice.

Theo has long been active in community affairs. In the late 1980s, he led a successful nationwide conservation campaign for which he received The New Zealand 1990 Commemoration Medal in recognition of services to New Zealand. In 2019, he also received the Newpark Financial Services Community Services Award. Cristina’s industrious and energetic approach to serving her clients has also been recognised through an Apex Silver Award from Sovereign Assurance.

Financial advisor supporting business

Other areas of community involvement include Theo’s passion for supporting businesses. Currently Chair of Silverdale Business Association, he also oversees four local branches of The Networking Group (TNG) in Orewa, Silverdale, Hibiscus Coast and Warkworth. TNG provides a great opportunity for business owners to learn from other professionals, build enduring business relationships and personal friendships, grow their business and generally ‘take it to the next level.’ The challenging environment over the past 18 months has really highlighted the value of business owners staying connected with, and supporting, each other.

Sharing a passion for music

Wearing other hats, Theo and Cristina are also the Sounds of Greece duo, who perform regularly at local hospitality venues as well as at the annual Greek Extravaganza. It was this joint passion for Greek music and culture, along with Theo’s past hospitality experience as the owner of the award-winning Theo’s Greek Taverna (Wellington), that the idea of the annual Greek Extravaganza was born.

Theo and Cristina are great believers in The Power of Giving: to give of yourself is to become a part of something bigger, and they strongly hold the view that “as we work to create light for others, we naturally light our own way.

Merry Christmas for 2021

Theo and Cristina wish you all a wonderful festive season, hope you enjoy some relaxing time with family and friends, and remind you to please take care of your health. They look forward to continuing to serve you during the coming year and beyond.
